Weekly Group Classes:

“Social Tango - 1″, Feb.15 - Mar.22, Monday nights 7:00-8:00 PM @ Studio Tango - RTP

Argentine Tango is about the connection between the partners, the music and the musicality of the movement, and the body language that allows us to improvise and to communicate with our partners on the social dance floor.  And yes, it is not only “passionate” or “romantic” but it is also fun
In the  “Social Tango for Beginners” level, students will be exposed to the foundational elements of tango as a “body language”, to music and musicality along with the social dance etiquette, the “codes” of communication in the social dance setting, history  of tango and tango culture.
Concepts: the invitation to the dance, “tango embrace” , “connection” between the partners and among all the dancers on the social dance floor, the “posture”, the “tango walk”, “parallel and cross walking systems”, “crossing steps” (i.e. “ochos” etc), the “turns” (”giros”), the “music/musicality”; and some ideas how to use these concepts to improvise which is the “heart and soul” of social tango.

$50/5 week/person if paid in advance by February 14 (please click on the price for online registration)
$60/5 week/person if paid at the door or after February 14
($10 discount over the price of a 5-week session for those who have a valid undergrad/grad student ID)
(No per lesson pricing or registration option is available. Each week’s lesson will build on the material learned in previous lessons.)

Tango students who have registered for the series are welcome and encouraged to attend the practicas (practice sessions) following the classes Monday nights from 8:00 to 10:00 PM at no additional charge. So, all you need to do is to create the time and practice what you learn in the classes!

For those who are already familiar with improvisational social tango and ready to practice the material they learn/learned in classes/workshops/private lessons.
A good casual setting for socializing and practicing tango before you take your dancing skills to the social dance floor at the milongas!

Enjoy dancing tango in the warm and inviting Open Eye Cafe. Nestled in the heart of Carrboro, passers-by admire the milonga through the large picturesque windows. Enjoy a hot cappuccino, a rich porter, or a glass of fine wine. Triangle Tango’s 3rd Friday Milonga at Open Eye is one of the best in the Triangle.

Dancing: 9 p.m. -11:45 p.m.

Eduardo Lazarowski will be hosting a monthly milonga at Metro8 every 4th Sunday.  Come early to enjoy Argentine specialties, prepared by Chef and owner Francisco Pirillo, empanadas, chorizos, churrasco steaks and more!  Outdoor dining available on the covered patio. Dinner reservations are recommended, www.metro8steakhouse.com.  Admission to the milonga is free, but please support the venue by purchasing something to eat and drink.
